Iowa

The winters are cold and the summers are hot and humid.
The state bird is the Goldfinch.
The state tree is the Oak.
We get a lot of snow in the winter, but not as much as you.

The People of Van Meter


We go to Casey's if we do anything around town, there isn't really anything else in the town.
In the summer we go swimming and tubing.
The two biggest sports are football and wrestling.

The City of Van Meter

There is not a grocery store in Van Meter.
The population is about 1,285 people.
The is farming in Van Meter, but not in the actual town.
Van Meter is small city, but we get around go into West Des Moines for a lot of things.
There are no historical landmarks in Van Meter.
There is the Bob Feller Museum.
Van Meter was founded in 1868 by Jacob Van Meter.
There is a myth about the creature in the mine.
Van Meter is about 20 miles west of Des Moines.
The closest city to Van Meter is Des Moines.
